Your Venue Tour Checklist: Early Summer Weddings at the E.O. Manees House and The Sanctuary at Argenta in 2027

You've got the ring, a rough guest list, and a Pinterest board that's getting a little out of hand. Now comes the part where you actually walk through the front door.

A venue tour is where a place stops being a photo on a screen and starts being somewhere you can picture your people standing. It's also easy to walk out of one and realize you forgot to ask half of what you wanted to know.

The best tour is the one where you show up knowing what to look for.

That's what this checklist is for. We'll walk through both of our Argenta venues, E.O. Manees House and The Sanctuary at Argenta, including ceremony and reception spaces, the porch, and your indoor and outdoor reception options, then talk tablescapes, guest flow, and weather plans. The two sit just across the street from each other, so it's easy to tour them together. If you're searching for an early summer wedding venue in North Little Rock for 2027, bring this along on your tour.

Start with the two venues.

The Sanctuary at Argenta: ceremonies, receptions, and more

The Sanctuary at Argenta is a restored church in the Argenta Arts District, and it accommodates up to 250 guests, which makes it a great fit for a ceremony, a reception, or both, especially with a larger guest list. Picture your day in the room: where your guests will sit, where you'll stand, and how the space will feel at the time of day you're planning.

Some couples hold their ceremony here and their reception across the street at E.O. Manees House, and others host the whole day at The Sanctuary. Ask our team which setup fits your guest count and style.

E.O. Manees House: ceremonies, receptions, and more

E.O. Manees House sits in North Little Rock's historic Argenta Arts District, and the house does a lot of the decorating for you. It can host your ceremony, your reception, or both, so you can use it for the whole day or just part of it. Think arched windows, classical columns, high ceilings, a grand staircase, carved fireplaces, and chandeliers.

On your tour, take your time in each room and ask yourself where your guests will be at each point of the day. A house with this much character can be a lot of fun to plan around, but it helps to see it with your own eyes.

The porch at Manees House: your first impression

At E.O. Manees House, the porch is the first thing your reception guests see, so it deserves a close look. Stand where your guests will arrive and think about how the day begins.

  • Where do guests gather when they first arrive?
  • Where would you take arrival photos?
  • How does the light fall in early summer at the time of day you're planning?
  • Is there a shaded spot for guests who are waiting?

If you can, book your tour around the same time of day as your wedding. Early summer evenings look very different from a midday visit.

Indoor and outdoor reception options at Manees House

One of the best things about a venue with both indoor and outdoor space is the ability to mix and match. Ask to see every option, and ask how each one would work for your guest count.

  • Indoors: Look at the great room and the way the windows bring in natural light. With seating space for about 70 people.
  • Outdoors: Walk the lawn and gardens and picture where the tables, dance floor, and bar might go. We have chairs for up to 150 guests.
  • Both: Ask whether you can split the evening, such as dinner inside and drinks or dancing outside.

Write down what you like about each option, and take photos as you go. You'll want them later.

Build a sensory tablescape mood board.

Your tablescape is more than flowers and candles. It's what your guests will see, smell, touch, hear, and taste while they sit down for dinner. A mood board built around the five senses helps you and your vendors stay on the same page.

Bring a few images to your tour, then take photos of the space so you can compare them side by side.

  • Sight: Colors, linens, candles, and florals. Early summer is a great time for soft greens and whites, so ask your florist what's in season for your date.
  • Scent: Fresh blooms, herbs on the table, or a signature drink. Keep scents light so they don't compete with dinner.
  • Touch: Linen texture, napkin weight, and the feel of the chairs. Guests will notice what they're sitting on.
  • Sound: Your playlist, a live musician, or the quiet before the first toast. Think about how the sound will carry in the room you choose.
  • Taste: Your menu, your cocktails, and even the little details like what's on each plate when guests sit down.

Before you finalize anything, ask what tables, chairs, and linens are included, and what you'd need to bring in from outside. We provide 60" round tables, cocktail tables, 6-foot rectangular tables, 8-foot rectangular tables, as well as 150 chairs for the E.O. Manees House and 250 chairs for The Sanctuary at Argenta.

Guest flow, step by step

A beautiful day can still feel awkward if guests don't know where to go. Walk through your timeline on the tour as if you were a guest.

Because The Sanctuary and E.O. Manees House sit across the street from each other, some couples hold the ceremony at The Sanctuary and the reception at the house. If that's your plan, ask how guests will move between the two, and walk the route yourself on your tour. The two venues are just steps away from each other across the street, making a seamless transition for your guests.

  1. Arrival and parking: Where do guests park, and how do they get to the front door?
  2. Welcome: Where do they check in or pick up a program?
  3. Ceremony: Where will they sit, and where will they wait?
  4. Cocktail hour: Where do guests go while you take photos?
  5. Reception: How do they move from one space to the next without a traffic jam?
  6. Restrooms and accessibility: Where are they, and are the routes easy for every guest?
  7. Exit: Where do guests catch a ride or say goodnight?

We currently have parking in the back and on the side of the Manees House, as well as the parking lot next to the Sanctuary, and in the future we have plans to add parking lot next to the Sanctuary for your guests.

Your weather plan

Early summer in Arkansas can bring heat, humidity, and the occasional pop-up storm, so a good weather plan is part of a good tour. Ask about it early, and ask to see the backup.

If you're pairing both venues, ask how the weather plan covers the trip between them. With multiple indoor spaces between the Manees House and the Sanctuary, and space for a tent on the Manees House lawn, there are many options when it comes to a weather plan.

  • What is the indoor backup if the weather doesn't cooperate?
  • Who makes the call, and how far ahead of time is the decision made?
  • What changes if you move indoors, such as the layout, the timeline, or the decor?
  • Is there shade for guests during an outdoor ceremony or cocktail hour?

Knowing your plan B ahead of time takes a lot of stress out of the week of the wedding.

A sample early summer wedding day

Not sure how your day could flow across the venues? Here's a sample early summer wedding day to get you thinking. It's an example, not a set schedule, so shift the times to fit your day.

3:30 PM: Guests arrive. Guests park, find the entrance, and pick up a program. Have a friend or family member greet them so no one wonders where to go.

4:00 PM: Ceremony. Hold your ceremony at The Sanctuary at Argenta or at E.O. Manees House, whichever feels right for your guest count and style.

4:30 PM: Cocktail hour. While you take photos, guests head to drinks and snacks. This is a great time to use the porch or outdoor space at Manees House.

5:30 PM: Reception begins. Guests are seated for dinner, followed by toasts. Early summer days are long, so you may get beautiful evening light for photos.

7:00 PM: First dance and dancing. Open the dance floor and let the party get going.

10:00 PM: Send-off. Music wraps up at 10:00 PM, and a lot of couples plan their send-off right around then. Guests say goodnight, and you make your grand exit.

Keep the end of the night in mind when you build your timeline: the music cutoff is 10:00 PM, and everything needs to be cleared and out of the venue by midnight at the latest. Leave time after the send-off for cleanup and loading out.

If you're keeping the whole day at one venue, the timeline works the same way. If you're using both, ask during your tour how guests will get from one to the other and how much time to leave for the move.

On your tour, walk through this timeline step by step. Ask where each moment would happen, who sets up the room, and what you'd do if the weather changed.

Most companies assume bigger equals better. In reality: • Large rooms create distance • Echoing spaces weaken presentations • Overbuilt venues feel impersonal • Energy disappears into empty square footage Corporate events are about momentum, alignment, and decisions. That requires the right scale — not the largest room available.
